A Rota Stand is a standing transfer aid designed to assist individuals who can bear some weight through their legs but require support to transfer safely between surfaces, such as from a bed to a chair, wheelchair or toilet. It enables a controlled standing pivot transfer while reducing the physical effort required by both the individual and their carer.
The Rota Stand provides secure handholds, knee support and a stable rotating platform, allowing users to turn safely without taking multiple steps. It is commonly recommended for people with reduced mobility, neurological conditions, muscle weakness or balance difficulties who are no longer able to complete independent standing transfers safely but do not yet require a full hoist.
Following an independent Occupational Therapy assessment, Adapt OT can determine whether a Rota Stand is clinically appropriate, ensuring it is suitable for the individual’s strength, balance, weight-bearing ability and transfer needs.
