A floor bed is a specialist low-height bed designed to reduce the risk of injury from falls while maintaining comfort, independence and dignity. Unlike a standard profiling bed, a floor bed can be lowered to just a few centimetres from the floor, providing a safer sleeping environment for individuals who are at high risk of rolling or climbing out of bed.
Floor beds are commonly recommended for people living with dementia, neurological conditions, cognitive impairment or those with a history of falls from bed. Many models also retain full profiling functions, allowing the bed to be raised for safe caregiving, transfers and personal care, before being lowered again for sleeping.
Following an independent Occupational Therapy assessment, Adapt OT can determine whether a floor bed is the most appropriate solution, considering your clinical needs, level of falls risk and long-term care requirements.
